SPOILER ALERT: it can absolutely still be Stylish & Cozy!
I’ve lived in many different circumstances: with my family, with partners, with one roomate, with many roomates, by myself. No matter what the configuration, I created some version of all of these rooms – even if they weren’t actual rooms! Many times, they were just a corner of the *one* room I could call my own.
Keeping *everything* in your home organized can feel overwhelming. I wanted to know that I had everything, but I also wanted to keep everything minimal. I moved so often that it was helpful to me to have a list of the absolute minimal of what was needed in each room, but also complete.
Having this list can also help you *prioritize* what you need to get.
When you move, there is a *lot* of furniture to buy. Take from this list and see what you need, what can wait, and what you eventually want to replace.
I will create a separate post of all the items in each room.
As far as decorations – my philosophy for minimal, complete, cozy, and stylish (it can be modern or classic) is this:
lighting, artwork, plants, textiles
…nothing else!
This can help you go through all of your items, room by room, and access what you really need. If it doesn’t fit in the room, take it out and put it where it belongs.
You will begin to see what you really need and what you *really* don’t need.
Of course, we all have specialized trades. For example, I will have 5 items for makeup, but a makeup artist may have hundreds.
I’d love to hear what everyone owns beyond this list. It will lead you to see, then amalgamate and *organize* EVERYTHING else. For example, collections.
